Left Behind After the Rapture? Here's What to Do in the First 24 Hours
6 min read · By Christbearing Warrior
If you are reading this and millions of people just vanished — your wife, your kids, a neighbor, a coworker, the pastor down the street — I want you to stop for a second and take a breath. You are not crazy. You are not the only one. And it is not over for you.
It just got harder. A lot harder. But not over.
I wrote a whole book about what comes next. I am writing this post because I know some of you do not have time to read a novel right now. You need a plan. You need it fast. And you need somebody to tell you the truth without sugarcoating it or burying you in theology you cannot use.
So here it is. Straight, short, and in order.
First: Understand What Just Happened
The Bible calls it the rapture. Paul wrote about it plainly:
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air." (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
That is what just took place. Every person who belonged to Jesus Christ, body and soul, was taken out of the world in a single instant. The dead in Christ went first. The living believers went with them. Everybody else stayed.
If you are still here, it means you were not His when it happened. That is the hard part. But keep reading, because the next part is the hope.
Second: You Can Still Be Saved
Read this slowly. The rapture is not the end of salvation. It is the end of the church age. People are still going to get saved during what comes next — scripture calls them the tribulation saints, and Revelation describes them by the multitude:
"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands." (Revelation 7:9)
A few verses later an angel explains who they are:
"These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb." (Revelation 7:14)
They got saved after the church was gone. You can too. Right now. Before you do anything else on this list, settle it. Get on your knees wherever you are. Confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, that He died for your sins, that He rose again, and that you are yielding yourself to Him this moment. Do not wait until you have a plan. Do not wait until you feel ready. The plan only works if you are His first.
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9)
Do that. Then keep reading.
Third: Get Off the Grid, Fast
The world you woke up in is about to change shape very quickly. Governments will scramble to explain the disappearances. A leader is going to rise who has an answer — a confident, unifying, comforting answer — and he is going to be believed. The Bible calls him the Antichrist. He is going to ask you, eventually, to take a mark to buy and sell. You cannot take it. Not for food. Not for your kids. Not for anything:
"And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." (Revelation 13:16-17)
That means your best move in the first 24 hours is to stop depending on anything that requires a government account, a bank card, or a digital identity to function. I know that sounds extreme. I know it sounds like something out of a prepper novel. It is about to be your life.
Here is the short list for the first day:
- Pull cash if your bank is still operating. It will not save you long-term, but it buys you a few weeks of supplies without a trail.
- Stock shelf-stable food and water for at least 30 days. Rice, beans, canned goods, salt, oil, a water filter.
- Get out of dense cities if you can. Cities are where the mark will be enforced first and hardest. Rural communities will be slower to roll it out.
- Find other believers. There are going to be more of you than you think. The ones who were left behind and got saved in the first hours are your new family. Guard them.
- Destroy or disable anything that tracks you that you do not absolutely need.
Fourth: Read Revelation. All of It.
I know the Bible can feel intimidating. Start with Revelation anyway. You are living in it now. You need to know the sequence — seals, trumpets, bowls — so you are not caught off guard by each new horror. God told us ahead of time on purpose. He did not want His people walking into the tribulation blind. If you just got saved, that includes you.
Read Matthew 24 too. Jesus laid out the signs Himself. And read Daniel 7 through 12 — Daniel gives you the timeline and the identity of the kingdoms that are rising right now.
If you want a guided walkthrough instead of reading cold, my survival post on how to survive the tribulation breaks the sequence down in order, and refusing the mark of the beast goes deep on the single most important decision you will make in the years ahead.
Fifth: Do Not Despair. You Were Given a Gift.
This is the part the religious world will not tell you, so I will. Being left behind is a mercy. Yes, a mercy. You had one more chance. Millions of people who died before the rapture without Christ do not have that chance. You do. God did not forget about you — He kept you breathing long enough to read this page.
The cost is going to be everything. Comfort, safety, maybe your life:
"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." (Revelation 12:11)
But the crown on the other side of that is real. The multitude in white robes is real. The new heaven and new earth are real. And the One who bought it for you with His own blood is going to meet you when you get there.
You are not too late. You are right on time. Get saved, get ready, and do not take the mark.
